Green Strategies For Building Design

This module is an exploration of passive sustainable strategies in architectural design. It looks at the different elements that make up architecture and how the integration of passive design strategies with these elements contribute to the quality of spatial experience within a building. Student will undertake case studies to analyse the applications of these strategies and their impact on the quality and experience of space. The understanding of the various passive sustainable design strategies will inform the students’ own studio project.

ASSIGNMENT 1

Reflection

We were charged with investigating passive design solutions for two buildings in opposing climates in order to assess how the building's passive and active design aspects adapt to the climate. Based on our investigation, we conducted a comparative examination of both buildings, which helped us better comprehend the subject.

In a word, this task was instructive and enjoyable because I learned more than my country's climatic type, which has helped me with my other module assignments.

ASSIGNMENT 2

Reflection

Assignment 2 was based on our final studio model, which was beneficial because it helped me in my studio module to think about and include passive and active design methods as part of the design process, making it easier to accomplish the module's final assignment.

Throughout my studio assignment, I kept in mind the passive green strategies we learnt in assignment 1 and how they may be applied to the design of my building. As a result, this assignment has influenced my thinking to have more depth and considerations for green, passive, and aggressive solutions.
