Personal Statement
I am HUIGEN KHOR currently pursuing Bachelor of Science in Architecture at Taylor's University Lakeside Campus, Kuala Lumpur. I am a visual person that loves to imagine and observe things that happened around me. My character is strong, I dislike organized way of thinking, as I believe creativity ideas is unplanned, non-definable and come in natural. Networking is one of my strength, I am used to understand how people feel and think, and this is why my family members, friends, and teachers et cetera is happy to be with me. These characteristics mentioned above is the reason why I choose architecture as my subject for my tertiary studies.
Apart from that, in extra- curriculum, I like to do work in project basis and in team work, as in this part I can extend my potential of creativity. One of the most memorable design projects that I had ever participated is a contest that we need to come out with the design of a BMW car in a group of 5 members. In that contest, 5 of us come out with a lot of design ideas as design is the part that we are interested in, but due to the poor foundation of drawing skill we lost the contest. But, I learnt a very important lessons from that onwards, a good product of design is formed by the accumulation of different ideas in a group, even though how good my design skills is I am still lack of competence, because the that design is just from my side of view. For my perspective, in an architecture project, the building design is not formed by the architecture himself, as the experience and ideas of the architect himself is not the best idea that can be contribute by the team only the accumulation of the ideas in the team formed the best ideas from the team, and in working with people, and understand how they feel and think, is the strength of mine, my friends surround me always support me as their leaders, and this is why I think I am suitable in the project base of an architecture.
The main motivation for me to be an architecture is because I hope that with the maximization of my full capability and strength I can help to develop places that is abandon and remote. I am a person that cares about relationship, family and home always comes first as this is the foundation of where we learn how to form relationship with others. Home and houses is where relationship forms, and where people gain their happiness, I am just very simple in my ambition, I hope with my ability I can build a house that is comfort for everyone, and people in the city will always missed their home and frequently go back to their home to visit their family members, and I hope that if everyone love their home and emphasize in relationship, our nation and our world can be more peaceful than ever before, therefore I want to be an architecture!
