Project 2: Designing with Architectural Principles + Materiality
Project 3: Designing with Architectural Principles + Materiality + Context + User: Tropic

Architectural

This module introduces the principles and methods of analysis, abstraction, and synthesis in design thinking that are common to many design fields, including building and architecture. The key emphasis of the studio is “User and Context”, which investigates the relationship between user and natural environment. In this studio, students will undertake a series of studio-based exercises; firstly, an investigation of the architectural spaces and construction through precedent studies; and secondly, an exploration of form and space through architectural conceptualisation. Finally, students will design a small freestanding structure that meets user requirements and engages with the site context.

Project1: Diagramming Architectural Principles

Self-Reflection

In this module, I had involved myself in both of the 3 projects which is Project 1: Diagramming Architectural Principles, Project 2: Designing with Architectural Principle and Materiality and Project 3: Designing with Architectural Principles, Materiality, Context and User. In both of the project that I have did that I mentioned above, I had gain many knowledge from it. From project 1,  it is a group assignment and we decide to chose a precedent studies to proceed for our analysis with 5 of our groupmates. We had chosen the building name Sou House by  atelier thu which located in Ikoma, Japan.  In this Project, I analysis their design and principles and investigate how spaces are create in Sou house from making of architectural and constructional elements: architectonics. Next, In second project, we decide to choose one teammates from our tutorial group to explore our conceptual and operational procedures in order to proceed to our design. Besides that, we have to select the architectural principle from the first assignment to proceed to our design. In this assignment I had learnt how to use those of the principle to implementing it in our design to enhance the user experiences. Lastly is Project 3, project 3 is individual project that need us to create a tropical solitary area for my partners and I. before that we can't go to the real site to do our analysis cause the COVID-19 Pandemic. So both of us need to do the site analysis digitally by using google earth and senior works to do our analysis. In this final assignment I had learnt how to interpreting and synthesis of the user, site and function in architectural design and  created a memorable spatial experience for the user. Finally, I had learnt a lot of things in this module, it is a big challenge for us as a architecture student because of the COVID 19 pandemic, all of us need to finish our project by using online platform except project 1but I still really enjoy about the process of making my model.

The site is located in the northern hemisphere where the angle of sun path was tilted towards the south. The designer has place strategic & general points of opening where the internal space are able to receive sufficient natural lighting and also breezes for ventilation. The pathway is in a linear system where the dynamic movement is captured using the eye view of the user in the space. Sou house is located on a hill slope will 30 degree inclined space which require the architect to tilt an shift the simple geometry of the house to accommodate to the landscape The Sou house is designed using regular geometry such as square and rectangle units that makes up the whole design of the building

Project 2:

Designing with Architectural Principles + Materiality

Radical Breach is our attempt in exploring contrast of tension set in a linear circulation. Radical Breach is inspired by the power of light and shadow to invoke different forms of tension within the user. Modular forms creating breaching slits of light help realize this idea; together with the thin columns in the corridor, it creates a shift in tensity experience as the user moves from one zone to another. Our idea reflects on the current COVID-19 pandemic, bringing to mind an introspection of uneasiness and uncertainty that we will experience as we tread along this challenging path.

Project 3:

Designing with Architectural  Principles + Materiality + Context + User: Tropical Solitary Haven

THE SOLITARY HAVEN IS LOCATED IN GROUP B MICRO SITE 3. THE BUILDING IS  COVERDIN WITH SURRONDING NATURE AND TREE TO PROVIDE MORE PRIVACY. IT ATTEMPT THE DESIGN PRINCIPLE OF LINEAR CIRCULATION AND LIGHT AND SHADOW TO ENRICH THE USER EXPERIENCES. THE DESIGN CONCEPT IS RECORPORATE THE SHAPE AND FORM OF VIBRANT GREEN LEAF CLOVERS, CREATE MULTIPLE SPACES THAT SHOW UNIQUE FUNCTION BY PLAYING WITH LIGHT AND SHADOW TO ENRICH USER EXPERIENCE, CREATE IRREGULAR SHAPE AND CREATE A MOVING VEIL FACADE

IT INSPRIED BY SUJIMOTO HOUSE BEFORE HOUSE AND BUND FINANCE CENTRE WHICH SHOW MOVING VEIL FAÇADE AND VILLAGE STRUCTURE. BOTH OF THE BUILDING INSPIRED BY THE POWER OF LIGHT AND SHADOW TO INVOKE DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE USERS

THE SOLITARY HAVEN CONDUCTED 5 SPACES WHICH IS WORKING AREA, RESTING AREA, SOLITARY AREA, DISCUSSION AREA AND WASHROOM. BOTH OF THE SPACES WILL GAIN DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES AS THE USER MOVES FROM ONE ZONE TO ANOTHER
